Julie Webers, BSN, RN-BC
I am proud to recognize Julie Webers, BSN, RN-BC, for her unwavering compassion, initiative, and dedication to patient-centered care.
A patient in our clinic was being transferred to the emergency room, but due to space constraints, his powered wheelchair could not accompany him. Guest and Patient Services were contacted to help transport the chair, but they informed the nurse that they were not permitted to do so. The patient, who is completely dependent on the chair for mobility and had no means of returning to the clinic to retrieve it, became visibly anxious and distressed.
Without hesitation, Julie stepped in. She figured out how to place the powered wheelchair into manual mode and personally walked it across the bridge, in the heat, from the clinic to the emergency room. Thanks to her determination and empathy, the patient had his wheelchair with him upon discharge. He was incredibly grateful, and his peace of mind in that moment was a direct result of Julie's actions.
This is just one example of how Julie consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. In a time when it's all too common to hear, "That's not my job," Julie reminds us of what nursing is truly about. She doesn't wait to be asked-she sees a need and fills the gap. Her presence on our team is a gift, and her actions reflect the very heart of nursing.
I am deeply grateful to work alongside Julie and witness her commitment to excellence every day. She is more than deserving of the DAISY Award.
