Julius Koenig, BSN

Julius took over as my mom’s nurse in the morning, after a long night recovering from a surgery she didn’t even know she’d be staying the night for. Coming off what my mom described as an awful night, Julius was a refreshing breath of fresh air. His bedside manner was exceptional, and he spoke to my mom with tenderness and true compassion. He comforted her while she got sick, checked in on her frequently, and made sure my mom & I had everything we needed. He helped educate both my mom and me on the pros and cons of going home & never invalidated my mom’s anxiety or pain. Julius, who said he usually works in the ER, exemplified everything you can hope for in a nurse. With the stress of recent times being placed on healthcare workers, it’s easy to experience compassion fatigue at the detriment of your patients, but Julius treated my mom with kindness, compassion, and skill, all nurses should strive to achieve. Thanks, Julius, for making an unpleasant day more tolerable. Anyone would be lucky to have you as their nurse.
