Through her leadership, she continues to transform patient care outcomes
On behalf of Children’s National, I would like to recognize June Amling MSN, RN, CNS, CCRN, CWON, whose distinguished 33-year career as a clinical advanced practice nurse, innovator, scholar, researcher, and mentor exemplifies the professional practice and art of nursing. In 2015, June was recognized by ANCC as the Magnet Nurse of the Year in the Empirical Outcomes category for her transformational work establishing the first multidisciplinary team aimed at pressure reduction at Children’s National.

Through her leadership, she continues to transform patient care outcomes by conducting prevalence studies and product evaluations. She has established an Advanced Practice Nurse led wound clinic, where Advanced Practice Nurses are able to meet complex wound needs across the care continuum for patients and families.

She contributes nationally and internationally to evidence-based practice guidelines through the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and the Society of Advanced Wound Care. Her collaborative research endeavors include the development of a 3D wound assessment tool.

She is an accomplished author in multiple peer-reviewed journals which is a testament to her expertise in wound management; making her a sought-after, inspirational clinical preceptor, mentor, and speaker. The culmination of her personal career achievements, interdisciplinary contributions, and advocacy will continue to sustain and shape the art and science of the professional practice of nursing.
