For nearly 30 years, June has shared her warmth and positivity with patients and colleagues alike. Every day, she greets each patient with genuine concern and takes the time to listen to their needs to provide the individualized support they need.
Recently, June cared for a patient recovering from surgery experiencing significant pain. June remained calm and compassionate, gently brushing the patient’s face with a cool washcloth and providing a comforting touch. When it became clear that the patient required a more immediate solution, she contacted an anesthesiologist to administer a nerve block.
“Throughout the procedure, even when she was helping the anesthesiologist, June was still comforting the patient with guiding breaths, verbal reassurance, and gentle touch,” the nominator says. “As the medicine finally took effect, the tension slowly melted away from the patient. Through grateful tears, the patient whispered, ‘You are an angel.’”
