Our dad unexpectedly had to have bypass surgery a few weeks ago, and we were all so worried and stunned as our dad has always been so healthy. He was getting ready to leave for vacation one minute, and the next, we found out he needed to stay for observation and ultimately bypass. From the moment he entered the facility, we were met with comfort and an incredible team. We had a million questions and obvious fear as we knew it was a big surgery. We immediately called the hospital and were transferred to his nurse which was Junia. She answered every question and assured us she’d be there when we arrived.

As soon as we walked in, she said, "You all must be X's family," and led us to him and again answered a million more questions with such compassion. We were so lucky to have had Junia be our dad’s nurse during his stay before his surgery; she answered all our questions with compassion and understanding. We’re sure she deals with all these questions daily but never appeared annoyed or brushed us off. She made sure Dad was always comfortable and calm. Not only did she go above and beyond for my dad, but she did for our entire family, making sure our mom was eating and had enough blankets and pillows when she stayed overnight. She let us know her shifts would be over before Dad’s surgery but would visit the following week if he was still in, and sure enough, she kept her word and visited Dad in the recovery department.

This type of care and compassion have made our entire family completely grateful for Junia. She is the epitome of a nurse who loves her job and can make a difference for an entire family. By the end, we hugged her, and Mom even started calling her "daughter".
