Justin, BSN, RN, a staff nurses in CVICU, is a recent graduate of the nursing program at Allen College. The family that nominated Justin was so impressed with his care that they were in attendance at the award presentation, along with Justin's girlfriend (an MOR nurse) and his nuclear and extended family. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. The nomination was another stellar example of extraordinary nursing:
We want to let Justin know how much we appreciated his EXCELLENT care for our daughter. He was like an angel. He always anticipated our needs and helped us out more than he could imagine. My daughter, who we were waiting to donate her organs, was in the CVICU and we did not want to leave. Justin got me a recliner - so I could sleep by her side. They got me food - so I did not have to leave her. Because of his hospitality, I was able to spend her last days on earth by her side. I know that she was not there' and it was just her body lying in the bed, but he performed his nursing cares with kindness and gentleness. He was perfect. I started crying and he knelt next to me, just to let me know he was here for me and my husband. He deserves some kind of recognition for his excellent work. He was able to meet our needs and comfort us in the worst situation we could ever imagine.
