I would like to share with you a little back story about Justin. Justin is an army veteran who unfortunately lost his leg in battle. He was matched to our floor with the acute rotation program, and he has been a blessing to the staff and his patients. Being a vascular surgical floor, amputations are very common. He can shed light on his journey and give hope to those who are going through an amputation. I foresee many DAISY Award nominations heading your way from him. I lost my leg due to an infection and was feeling bad about it until I met Justin, my nurse. He seemed to be a cool guy to talk to and we had some things in common like we were both in the US Army. I was wondering what I could do or was I just going to be useless for the rest of my life. Justin and I talked about how I was feeling but it wasn’t until the next day when he revealed to me that he had a full leg prosthetic. This gave me a much better attitude about my life.
