My 83-year-old father recently came into the ER in Hayward, and Justin was his first nurse. Justin took care of my dad, as I would think he would take care of his own dad.
My dad was very sick, restless, and at one point wanted to sit up at the edge of his bed. Justin assisted him up so he could sit like he wanted. My dad wasn’t able to sit up on his own and was sleeping on and off. Justin held him up, let him lean on him, and rubbed his back. He talked to him so gently and kindly.
It was a very emotional time as a family, and watching Justin with my dad was like having an angel in the room. It brought a tear to my eye. I was seeing beauty in the pain. He treated my dad with the most respect and dignity. He talked to him about what he was doing, taking blood and giving blood.
He also wanted to make sure that we, as a family, had what we needed. Justin should be commended for his excellent nursing skills and the big heart that he shows for patients and their families.
