When I awoke on the 9th floor following abdominal surgery, I was in the worst pain of my entire life. Further, I was more nauseated that day than at any other time in my life as well. The combination was agonizing and I truly felt like I was going to die. I could not open my eyes because I had no control over my body. But I heard 2 voices, my husband and Justine. This nurse was amazing. Her words were calming and she moved as fast as she could to help me. I am allergic to specific pain medications, so her options were limited but she did everything she could to bring me comfort. She followed me closely that whole evening and I never had to wait on her. She was always there! This is what you expect of your nurses, so why is this extraordinary? I found out later she had 8 patients. Justine is Extraordinary because even with 8 patients she was able to provide me with comforting and compassionate care!! She is exceptional because compassion is hard to act on with such a large patient load. Justine RN is one Extraordinary Nurse who works above her calling to show compassion and truly is a DAISY Nurse
