I am also a nurse in the hospital and have worked together with Justine many times. I have always known her to be a conscientious worker who is very dedicated, has great attention to detail, and takes exceptional care of her patients. I recently found myself hospitalized with COVID-19 pneumonia and was under her care while on 3-Medical.
My condition began to deteriorate, I was having difficulty breathing and my oxygen requirement was rapidly rising. I was terrified, faced with the possibility of having to be placed on a ventilator, or even dying. Justine was at my bedside throughout this ordeal and recognized my condition as soon as it was happening. Together with the respiratory therapist and attending physician, they moved me to ICU where I spent the next 5 days. I was able to discharge home on day 7 with no further oxygen requirement. I credit Justine with saving my life.
Later, when I thanked her, in a characteristic humble fashion she eschewed credit for this, insisting it was a team effort. I would give awards to the whole team if I could. Justine is a credit to our profession and absolutely one of the best.
