Juvy has a way of connecting with patients in the way they need it the most. She knew my mom had a preferred name, and each time she entered the room she would call her by name and my mom would just light up. She was always so upbeat and positive. She demonstrated exceptional clinical skills in every task she performed. If she did not know the answer to a question, she would do what she could to find an answer.

When we were transferred to PCU, my mom kept asking if we could please go back to the 7th floor, and if not, could Juvy please come down and do her dressing changes. Every day we spent on the 7th floor, she would ask for Juvy. When we decided to transition to inpatient hospice, we were transferred to the 10th floor. It was a very difficult time. As if she knew, Juvy came to see my mom in her last hours. She prayed with my mom and for my mom for a very long time. It is a comforting memory that I will always cherish.
