Rinajit is a very open person, always ready to lend a hand without any hesitation. Staff routinely approach her because she is friendly and makes you feel welcome with her endearments, warm smile, and infectious laughter. Her follow up skills are appreciated and no task requested during medical rounds is overlooked. Rinajit takes her own initiative to visit the radiology department to ensure ordered procedures are completed or arranged appropriately. She acts quickly to transport patients to other departments without any delays. Rinajit understands the importance to be transparent, she updates the staff with changes in patient management and facilitates the plan of care changes with confidence. Her can-do attitude is contagious, and we are influenced by her positivity and enthusiasm. When she collects patient medications or aids with early discharge to streamline admissions, this is inspiring. She is proactive, supports staff to think problems through and this results in a happier workplace and frontline staff.
Recently, she advocated for a patient who was prescribed multiple electrolyte replacements. Review of the laboratory results showed normal potassium levels, the order was clarified with the doctor who realized the medication was entered inappropriately. She prevented a possible medication error and saved the patient from potential harm.
As a direct care staff, she received an appreciation letter from a patient's family for her compassion, high quality of care, good communication skills/attitude and kindness. This sincere appreciation was followed by another patient caregiver who used his social media account to thank Rinajit for the exceptional care provided to the patient. The genuine dedication to patient care is felt by every patient and relative who encounters Rinajit.
It is a joy to work alongside Rinajit and be afforded opportunities to learn from her. She is generous with her time and accepts changes in the schedule to accommodate the unit needs. For the year-end activity, a survey was conducted and Rinajit was recognized as the Best Teamwork player, Most Helpful and Team Leader winner.
