Kaci was my husband’s nurse for 2 days in a row. She is so sweet and compassionate. Her calm tone and presence are reflected by her caring nursing style. My husband had never been hospitalized and was very anxious, but she was a calming effect. She put his safety and wellbeing first. She really made us feel cared for by doing so many little things that make a huge difference. Warming up a sandwich or a soft touch of her hand. She also cared for me as the patient's concerned loved one. She has a holistic sense about her. I think she should be recognized for this award as anyone can be taught clinical skills, but to have compassionate skills, that can’t be taught. You have it or not, and she has the whole package. She is an asset to the profession of nursing and humanity. Kaci did not take away my husband’s dignity due to his cognitive issues going on in the hospital. I sincerely and gratefully thank her.
