Kaci is now a Nurse Practitioner and has many wonderful attributes. She is an extremely hard worker and an excellent team player. She is willing to help anyone with any task. She is smart and has excellent clinical skills. Some personal examples of excellence are as follows:
We had a 17-year-old female patient with renal failure that caused a terrible skin disorder. Being our patient for several weeks, Kaci took a special interest in her. She helped to plan a birthday party to help encourage this struggling patient. She utilized her excellent clinical skills, along with her encouragement, to help heal this patient's body and spirit. As this patient rallied and was able to be discharged, Kaci continued her encouragement to her by attending her high school graduation.
Another patient example involved a young father who had terminal kidney disease. Kaci helped to plan to buy Christmas gifts for his children so that he was able to have presents for them for Christmas. This was very appreciated by the family and the patient as he died two days after Christmas.
I am especially proud of the nurse that Kaci has turned out to be, especially since I was fortunate enough to be her preceptor. Kaci has continued this tradition of being a preceptor and has trained several new graduate nurses. It means a lot to me to see this caregiver torch continue to be passed. I will miss working with Kaci as she takes on this new role as a Nurse Practitioner. I have confidence that she will continue giving excellent care to her patients.

Kaci is a wonderful, hard-working, compassionate nurse that demonstrates UT's values each shift she works. She is a great team player that will help each co-worker and fills in as a team leader. As a team leader, she is calm no matter what kind of day is happening around her. This calmness helps to calm the co-workers and patients. Kaci will be missed when she finally decides to leave UT and start her career as an NP.
