My father was in intermediate care after fighting so hard to overcome so many things at once. Kacie was our nurse the first and second nights he was there and she really made my dad super happy. She was very patient and extremely understanding of just how sick he was and every interaction she had with him she made him smile. People like Kacie are 1 in a million. My father lost his battle and passed away, however, I want to make sure that his wish is granted and that this outstanding nurse gets all the recognition she deserves in memory of my father, who I know would have done this himself if he made it through his battle.
The happiest I saw him before he passed away was when he was in her care. She was never too busy to answer questions and she didn't get frustrated when he kept asking me to get her because he was confused and unsure of what was going on. She did her best to keep him comfortable and she always had him smiling. Due to her kindness, I have something to hold onto besides the hurt of seeing him in the condition he was in. For that, I am very grateful. She went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable in every way in his last days. I know caring for someone as sick as he was isn't an easy job, but she never showed frustration.
Kacie thank you for everything and I hope you continue to keep your compassion and love for your job. My dad was my world... Kacie treated him as though it were her father laying there. That is all you can ask of a nurse is to treat your loved one with the same respect, love, and kindness they would their own family. I wish you many blessings!
