There is no one special “ah-ha” moment or an extraordinary deed. I just found that Kailey was for a “new nurse” at Milford, to be extremely competent. She was friendly but not in a pandering “oh honey, how are you today?” way. Quietly competent and efficient. She did a great job of answering questions, both clinically and otherwise, in a factual manner. She went out of her way to find answers she did not know at first. She seemed to balance her patients' needs but always had time for me.

On one shift, Kailey got slammed near the end with two discharges. She had little time left on her shift to handle them, but did not make a scene of it. She just said she had to do the best she could do. I have been around hospitals and nurses for many years, and I worked as an SVP in a large hospital in New Jersey. Kailey is exactly the type of nurse one would want to hire. It was my first time as a patient, and Kailey showed calm, competent problem-solving nursing at its best.
