Mom came in with eclampsia and seized at home. Mother was brought in. As delivered, baby infant was born coding and seizing. MOB was in ICU, intubated and sedated. Infant remained in critical condition in the NICU. Unfortunately, the infant did not make it, and as per the father, they decided to withdraw care. Before the infant was extubated to follow through with comfort care, Kailey stopped the medical team and offered to take the infant down to the ICU to withdraw care with MOB. In the height of a stressful situation, she was a beacon of light. Due to Kailey's compassion, the infant was taken to MOB while she was sedated and intubated. They placed the infant on MOB's chest for skin-to-skin. Withdrew care with the infant on mother with family at bedside. With consent, photos were taken for MOB and family to aid in coping with such a difficult situation. MOB had no idea what was going on at the time due to her critical condition, and FOB was faced with an incredibly difficult decision and situation. Due to Kailey's compassion and empathy, I truly feel she aided this family in the process of grieving. It was a gesture that moved me and brought me to tears, as I would want a nurse to think of that for me if I were to ever find myself in that situation. This gesture deserves recognition.

Thank you, Kailey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
