Kailyn Graham was the nurse caring for a non-verbal patient with intellectual delays on Family Medicine. This patient was at high risk for falls and was frequently setting off his bed alarm to wander around his room. Kailyn promptly responded to his bed alarms and took time to understand his cues and the reasons why he was getting up since he could not communicate them verbally. She even found out from his facility that he likes to walk around a lot at his home. Due to his high risk for falls, this was not a possibility in our unit. Kailyn ran down to the gift shop and personally bought this patient some toys so that he wouldn’t become bored while stuck in his hospital room. Kailyn showed exceptional kindness in all her interactions with this gentleman and really went above and beyond to understand and respond to his needs. Kailyn always makes time with each patient to understand them individually and adjusts her care to connect with them on a personal level. She is a caring individual and a strong advocate for her patient's physical and emotional needs. We are fortunate to have a nurse like Kailyn working at MU Healthcare!
