We currently have a very difficult patient situation on our unit and Kai frequently speaks up with concerns and suggestions for what we can try to improve care for the patient and safety for the team.
Kai joined 3rd Surg as a new grad in August of 2021. While he is still in the first year of his nursing career he is emerging as a leader on our unit. His advocacy for his team and his patients is one of his many strengths. We currently have a very difficult patient situation on our unit and Kai frequently speaks up with concerns and suggestions for what we can try to improve care for the patient and safety for the team.
There was a safety stop related to this patient and this is what Dr. S wrote about Kai: "Kai was the definition of 'grace under pressure' last night. He had just come on shift, was managing a safety stop, and trying to give me as much information as possible from scanty charting and records. He was kind, helpful, calm, and careful, even as I was badgering him for information that wasn't available. His efforts were very helpful and I appreciated the time he took to help us manage this challenging patient. Thank you!"
The above recognition is just one of many where Kai demonstrates his advocacy, compassion, leadership, and strong nursing skills. He has been recognized by many in our unit for always stepping in to help no matter what he has going on.
