Kaitlin was one of my nurses during my two-week stay due to legionella. I was extremely frightened because I could hardly breathe. Early in my stay, in the middle of the night, I became combative and started tearing all the breathing tubes off my face. I had no knowledge of this until I slowly came out of sedation the following day. The doctor (also a lifesaver) told me if I could not handle the breathing tubes, they would need to intubate me & put me into a medical-induced coma. This was even more frightening to me, which caused more breathing problems. Kaitlin spent a great deal of time with me over several days, calming me down so I could breathe using the breathing tubes. I was able to do this until the antibiotic started working & did not need to be intubated. I could not have done this without Kaitlin’s ability to spend time with me and calm me during this critical time of my hospitalization. I will be celebrating my “life-aversary” this year on the day Kaitlin came to my rescue.

Thank you, Kaitlin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
