September 2021 Honoree
Kaitlin Bush, RN
When I was in the ER this week, I was terrified that I was having a heart attack similar to 2017. I had a nurse named Kaitlin Bush. She could tell my anxiety level was high. During my stay, a trauma came in which necessitated her assistance. Even though she was needed, every few minutes, she would come back and check on me. She was proactive in getting me relief from my pain. At one point, it looked like maybe I was having a cardiac event and tears were rolling down my face. She noticed and made an extra effort to tell me to wait until all the test results come back. During the entire visit, I felt she had complete knowledge of what was going on with me and what the plan was. She even suggested to the doctor if he considered a flu or COVID-19 test. This is an example of an empowered nurse. She was constantly making little jokes to lighten up the atmosphere. If we have nurses like Kaitlin, I have no doubt that we have a bright future, and I am thankful for the compassionate care I received.
Thank you, Kaitlin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
