Kaitlyn received high praise for exuding the characteristics of an exemplary role model, showing extraordinary professionalism, and displaying a caring attitude as she provided patient care in the SICU.
Kaitlyn Dorsett is an RN in the VA RN Transition-to-Practice (RNTTP) Residency Program and was assigned to SICU. Kaitlyn was recognized as the August 2023 DAISY Award winner at the Birmingham VA Health Care System. Kaitlyn received high praise for exuding the characteristics of an exemplary role model, showing extraordinary professionalism, and displaying a caring attitude as she provided patient care in the SICU. The Veteran stated:
“Kaitlyn came into my room, happy and smiling. We told stories about our lives, and when she left the room, I felt on top of the world. I lost both of my legs and she made me feel alive again. I went home a better person. I thank God for her!”
During the DAISY Ceremony, the Veteran was called on the phone and expressed his gratefulness to have Kaitlyn in his life. Great job, Kaitlyn, continue to capture the true essence of a VA nurse!
