Kaitlyn helped take care of a patient on the labor suite in a very terrible situation. Our patient was unfortunately diagnosed with an IUFD (demise) at 36 weeks. To make matters worse, she was diagnosed 3 days before Christmas. Understandably, the family of the patient was very upset and had a difficult time interacting with hospital staff. Several nurses were asked not to continue in her care. Kaitlyn took over on Christmas day and the family immediately took to her. The patient ultimately delivered on Christmas and Kaitlyn was a huge support to her family. This was also Kaitlyn's first time caring for a patient with an IUFD which is extremely challenging. She was a huge support not only to the family and patient but also to the staff, including myself. I would love her to be recognized for her excellent care!
