Kaitlyn Millay is a LPN on 62 Denali, who just recently passed her boards and now is a RN.
She always goes above and beyond for the guys over there. She is their advocate, caretaker, family, whatever they need in that moment she is their " Person."
This moment stands out the most to me. She advocated for a Veteran who cannot advocate for himself and she fought and fought and even with push back, she never backed down.
This specific veteran is enrolled in our restorative program for ambulation. We noticed a huge decline and we were looking into charts, and past months of documentation of how much he could ambulate and questioned why or how we could have such a sudden decline so quickly. We thought maybe it could be a cognitive decline, however when we brought this to her attention because she was the med nurse on that day, she looked into his med list and found out he was on Ativan at a certain time due to behaviors. She fought because she noticed the Veteran wasn't even able to participate in the restorative program which provided him quality of life and maintained his physical functions. Once off the Ativan, this veteran is able to function back at baseline, interact, and ambulate 100ft and greater. Kaitlyn goes above and beyond every day she is here with her veterans.
