During my stay, Ms. Moats was always like a breath of fresh air coming into my room.
I was recently a patient at Chambersburg Hospital for five days. While a patient in the 3 West Wing of the hospital, my daytime RN was Ms. Moats. As I am sure it goes without saying, anytime you are a patient in the hospital for an extended period of time, it becomes a very monotonous period in your life. Constant IV changing, bloodwork draws, and "time to take your medication" visits. During my stay, Ms. Moats was always like a breath of fresh air coming into my room. Always cheerful and smiling, asking "How are you? How was your night? Can I get you anything?”, every now and again, a small joke to lighten the mood, and break up the routine. Ms. Moats even went so far as to come by my room on my discharge day to see how everything was going and wish me luck in my recovery, even though she was being pulled to a different location in the hospital that morning. I have been involved in Law Enforcement/Security for more than 30 years, so I am more than aware how difficult it can be to come to work every day and maintain the "Happy Face". Ms. Moats, no matter how long or busy her day may be projected to be, or how long and draining the day prior was, NEVER lost the "Happy Face". Professions like ours are considered the "Thankless Ones". You come to work day in and day out, never knowing what to expect, and sometimes, they are without drama, but more often, that is NOT the case. Ms. Moats' constant demeanor and attitude exemplify what a patient wants and needs when they are admitted to the hospital. She was for me a "DAISY" while I felt lost in the "weeds".
