March 2024 Honoree
Kaitlyn Mudge, RN
Our 4-month-old daughter was a cardiac repair patient who had a 9-day stay. Kaitlin has been absolutely amazing throughout our CTICU stay. Her support after hearing that our daughter coded and had seizures was unlike any other. She has such a warm personality that she makes you feel at home, even though the hospital is nowhere near as comfortable as home.
During the rain, she offered me her raincoat; when we played music for our baby, she sang along; she accommodated any request we had and answered any questions we had. She was able to have conversations as if we were friends, which goes a long way in an isolated situation.
For having just moved from Boston to San Diego and being in an environment she wasn’t totally familiar with, she stepped into her role with passion and empathy. We had her on different day shifts and night shifts, and her energy really brightened our stay.
If I could request a single nurse, she would be one that I chose in a heartbeat.

Thank you, Kaitlyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
