Katy is a sincere and dedicated nurse leader who guides her team and colleagues with her heart, first. She is patient and kind. She always tries to see the "bigger picture" and encourages others to do the same. She supports people to solve problems and collaborate to find the best solution that will benefit the person/group. Whenever things are challenging or stressful--she has such a gentle nature and sense of humor that can suddenly make it so much better to understand or cope with. Katy governs with a strong ethical presence and supports the BMC Core Values with integrity and respect. She is a role model for all of us and mentors each of us individually to help meet our own needs and goals. Katy also deeply believes in supporting her staff and what gives them peace and joy--whether it be her advocating for time away from work, finding a new or innovative way to do something, or assisting with delegating responsibilities--she strives to provide her staff with finding a work-life balance. Katy is approachable and even-tempered. She guides all of us with grace and love. She is the first to check on someone who may be having a difficult time in their personal life and offers a gentle presence when needed. Our department functions under her direction, and it is always run with compassion, truth, and her never-ending loyalty to her team. She has so much responsibility and balances so many competing priorities with grace. Her authentic leadership skills make it easy to come to work each and every day! She shares her pride in the hospital and in her department. She encourages her staff to do their best and is right behind them to offer support at a moment's notice.
