I would like to nominate Kaitly Schweiger for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary compassion, empathy, and humanity she showed during a difficult mental health crisis for a teenager. In one of the hardest moments a patient can experience, Kaitlyn created a space of safety, understanding, and genuine connection. She took the time to truly listen without judgment and validated the patient’s feelings. What made her care especially meaningful was her willingness to share parts of her own experiences, helping the patient feel less alone and more understood. This act of vulnerability built trust and reminded the patient that hope and resilience are possible. The compassion shown by the ER Staff that day had a lasting impact and exemplifies the very essence of health care. Kaitlyn is a true example of what it means to provide exceptional, patient‑centered care. She embodies the values of empathy, respect, and dedication that the DAISY Award was created to honor.
