My husband and I found out we were expecting and were very excited! Unfortunately, we found out the baby had passed at the first ultrasound appointment. We also found out I needed to have a D&C. We were devastated like any pair would be when experiencing a miscarriage. The procedure was scheduled a few days later. We were experiencing some pretty big emotions. We were heartbroken and anxious. Who knew grieving someone you have never met would be so hard? We arrived to the Day Unit and are greeted by our nurse Kaitlyn. She was a breath of fresh air and such a blessing. She made us feel so comfortable. She took extra time with us, maybe only 15-20 minutes but that time meant so much to us. She chatted and even made us laugh! We will never forget that day or her. Kaitlyn made that day much more bearable. We are hoping this nomination will result in a well-deserved DAISY Award for her.
