My daughter was a patient on the Oncology Unit and was admitted around the time that my son was to be married. Because my son and daughter-in-law were afraid their sister would not make the ceremony and would not be able to be the Maid of Honor for their special day, their wedding location was moved and held in the St. Mary's Hospital Chapel.
Kali made it possible for my daughter to attend the wedding. Without her, my daughter could not have attended my son's wedding and my son would have missed out on making this memory with this sister. In order for my daughter to attend the wedding, Kali came in on her own time to help. She helped my daughter to get dressed in her beautifully formal dress, watched as her hair was done, and served as the medical provider during my daughter's time off the oncology unit.
Kali even shed a tear or two during the ceremony.
By her actions, Kali took care of more than just my daughter's physical needs. She helped my daughter to feel normal even if it was only for one hour.It is not often that you meet a nurse who has the ability to connect with people like Kali does. Kali truly blessed our lives and her care will never be forgotten.
