Kalyn has the sweetest, most patient bedside manner and family interaction skills of any nurse I have encountered since my mom’s stay at URMC.
I was admitted to the ICU unit for a blockage in my heart and have had a massive heart attack. I came via Ambulance and alone. I spent almost 3 hrs that night in the heart Cath unit followed by the ICU unit. I don’t know if Nurse Kayln was the night nurse that evening or the morning. Can’t remember. What I do remember is I was scared and lacked the knowledge of what was happening. This lady paused, looked at me, smiled, and then began to explain what was happening. Stopping often to ask if I had any questions, all while smiling and making sure I was ok. This continued until my departure on Friday. On Friday, I was scared to go home, knowing I would be on new meds, and still unsure about my heart.

Nurse Kayln wrote notes alongside the take-home info and explained everything to me in a very understandable manner. I saw this opportunity while leaving in the lobby and said the nurse needs to be recognized and noted for how much of an asset and gift this lady is to your hospital and community.

Kalyn has the sweetest, most patient bedside manner and family interaction skills of any nurse I have encountered since my mom’s stay at URMC. She has been empathetic and sensitive in answering our questions and has shown gentle, loving care for our precious mother. During this frightening and uncertain time, I can’t think of any single nurse I would rather have with my mom and with us. My 17-year old daughter plans to go to nursing school, and I pray she turns out to be exactly the kind of nurse that Kalyn is!!!

Kalyn has been an angel from Heaven for my family. She has taken such good care of our mom. She’s been thoughtful and kind and has put up with us asking a million questions. I hope URMC knows what a gem they have with her.

Kayla has gone above and beyond our expectations in caring for my sister. She is a special nurse and an exceptional person.
