Kamala was kind, caring, and compassionate, with a contagious positive attitude. When prompted, she shared her story about why she is grateful for everything she has in this country. Kamala was reared in a refugee camp and overcame obstacles I can not even imagine. I was born in this country and take so many things for granted. Having the opportunity to watch my mother flourish under Kamala’s tender care has opened my eyes to some cultural biases that I didn’t even realize I had.

Both my mom and I agree that we are better people for having been cared for by Kamala. Through Kamala’s example my mom and I are encouraged to listen to others, to not judge others, and to practice an attitude of gratitude. Kamala also greatly influenced our view of this hospital. She is a wonderful person who went far beyond what was required or expected, meeting not just physical needs but emotional needs as well. She took care of the whole person and helped my mom to survive. Kamala’s story is inspiring. I am a teacher and have asked her if she would be willing to speak to the high school where I teach. The hospital and all who come in contact with Kamala are richly blessed.
