Kamaya combed her hair, had her change into a fresh nightgown, and planned to take her outside.
Kamaya had a class with her new grad cohort, and she was not working on the unit. After her class, she came up to the floor specifically to visit with a patient who has been staying at Methodist for an extended period. Kamaya combed her hair, had her change into a fresh nightgown, and planned to take her outside. We oftentimes, in the day-to-day of nursing, forget when patients are here for some time how big the little things become. Such things as feeling the sunshine on your face and a light breeze flowing through your hair.
Halfway through their journey, the patient mentioned how she would love to play cards. Kamaya stopped and turned around to fulfill the patient's wish. They sat outside and chatted on a beautiful spring day, they played garbage (a fun card game), and both returned to the floor with ear-to-ear grins. In, fact, the patient still had the grin well into the next day.
