February 2023 Honoree
Kara Haughey, BSN, RN
Kara is energetic, high-skilled, and thoughtful in tough situations. After quarantining for 2 plus years with flu shots and antibody treatment, my husband and I caught Covid. He was able to self-quarantine at home but I had to come to the TGH ER/ICU due to Covid pneumonia. Married 50 years this year, I have CHF and had a Kidney transplant performed at TGH in November 2015. My husband is my kidney donor. Prior to Covid, TGH kept me strong, happy, and active with traveling, family, and friends. I arrived at the TGH ER guided through by my transplant physician to receive quick attention, TLC, and careful examinations. Kara kept my husband and family well-informed while being cool, calm, and friendly.
Covid hit me hard and fast but I noticed how Kara treated her patients with respect, focus, and great follow-through. My husband and I are gratefully at home today and will resume our loving life together. We want to thank Kara for all her help during that time. She deserves a DAISY.
