Dr. Schubart is a trailblazer. She was instrumental in establishing the FNP program in the College of Nursing at Texas A&M. Her wisdom continues to shine through with each graduating class of new Aggie FNPs! Her stamp is also on the Doctor of Nursing Practice program - her impact on the development of the DNP program will be seen in those graduates as well.
Dr. Schubart is a role model. She is an excellent clinician and her expertise and knowledge shows in her compassionate care of patients. This can be witnessed in the care of women during a grant-funded clinic, her clinical practice providing primary care in a busy family practice and her mentoring of FNP students in the both the clinical and clinical simulation settings.
Dr. Schubart is a mentor. She instructs new faculty by easing the transition from clinical based practice to faculty role, adding new responsibilities and duties in an achievable manner and guiding the entire FNP faculty team.
Kara's perennial positive attitude is contagious, no project is too big or too complex for her. She has an ability to approach a problem from different angles, analyze the situation and offer viable alternatives and solutions. She is excellent at documentation (including clinical documentation), writing and wordsmithing - she can turn a phrase like no other! She also has the skill of seeing the big picture, knowing the entire FNP program schedule, faculty assignments, student placements and progress as well as coordination of clinical sites and preceptors. She is an expert at trouble shooting and intervening proactively. She models excellence for the faculty and students. She models the AGGIE core values of respect, leadership, integrity, loyalty, excellence and selfless service.
