Kara Racho, RN

Kara was assigned to care for a patient who was to be transitioned to comfort care the following day. Knowing that her shift would be the patient’s last night and he would likely pass in the morning, Kara spent so much time bathing the patient and shaving him, and as she put it, “making him look nice for his family”. When his wife of 50+ years came into the room, the first thing she said was how nice he looked, and she was so grateful that someone had shaved his face. The fact that he looked clean and peaceful was something that they were so grateful for. Cheers to Kara for doing these things, knowing she would not even see the family to hear their appreciation. We are so lucky to have her as part of our ICU team.
