Karamie was caring for a patient who was slowly declining. Karamie not only recognized these signs and was contacting physicians for orders, but she was also communicating with the family and keep them informed on their daughter's status. She demonstrated outstanding assessment skills of her patient, open lines of communication with physicians, and co-workers so that we could purposefully help her. She was organized and purposeful in her requests to us so her colleagues could help stabilize the patient.
Although the patient was coded and transferred to CVICU, Karamie remained at the bedside providing emotional support for the family. Karamie did not let the chaos of this situation prevent her from performing. She kept pushing forward. These are the actions of a hero. She faced the challenges that came along with these unplanned events. I'm proud of my nurse sister!
Good job, Karamie.
