Karen A Cuevas, LPN

I am nominating Karen for the Daisy Award. Karen has been one of the most astounding nurses I have ever encountered. Karen displays compassion and concern for her patients which goes above and beyond the scope of the duties of any nurse. She is always looking for ways to help her patients in any way possible and goes out of her way to ensure her patients are taken care of not only during office visits but throughout the years of care. Karen empowers her patients to work with pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, and their doctors to ensure that the best care is given when it comes to medications. I cannot count the number of times that Karen has spoken to people on my behalf, and she does so in such a way that people want to help her and her patients. Karen worked on my behalf for months to try to get them to cover my medications, as my employer only covers the generic and it doesn’t work as well. The company is very hard to get ahold of a live person, and both of us have previously waited over an hour to speak to them. One day, Karen was able to get through to a caseworker, and she called me so we could have a three-way conversation so that the company could not continue saying things that I had not said. We were able to get to the bottom of the problem efficiently and without recourse. Karen did exceptionally more than I would have ever expected any nurse to help me. I cannot thank her enough for what she did for me that day. Karen displays all five of the facility values, and she does them well. She is a talented and wonderful person and nurse, and she deserves to be recognized for her attributes at work.
