Karen has for some time now purchased items to assist patients when coming to the OR, often through the ER (unexpected procedure). She provides new contact lens cases for patients who need to remove them prior to surgery. This is a safer method of storage and very much appreciated. Karen also purchases small age appropriate toys. She had originally brought them for children but has recently given one to a mentally challenged adult. This act helped to calm the patient and the family was very appreciative of the warm gesture. Karen has initiated this from her years observing a need. It demonstrates her ability to go the extra mile for our patients.
