Karen Brewer, RN

In this year of a global pandemic, Karen has worked tirelessly with students, staff, and parents to make sure our school was following all protocols for COVID-19. She always took care of our students first. She listened to them, addressed their needs, made them feel comfortable (even when she had to move them to our quarantine room), and always loved them. Karen made contact with all students who missed school for illness. She would make dozens of calls a day to assess if the student may have symptoms of COVID-19. She took the time to explain everything to parents. A lot of these calls made parents anxious or nervous but Karen was kind and knowledgeable and earned trust with our parents. She had to make our contact trace calls and send students home. She did it all with her kind and caring attitude. She tried to empathize with parents and comfort them. We also had anxious teachers and staff members. Karen took care of them just like our students. She advised them and answered their questions. During this year of COVID-19 uncertainty, Nurse Karen was our steady beacon of hope that we would make it through!
