Karen has been with Kaiser Permanente for more than 30 years. A native of San Rafael, Karen completed nursing school and worked in critical care nursing for Kaiser in San Rafael in addition to other departments across the Medical Center. Karen is now synonymous with the Petaluma facility. She is the Medicine Manager, but she is really the "go to" person on site for the entire facility. Karen is truly a working manager. Her devotion to that facility and to all the Members they service is unparalleled. She has truly made a difference in the lives of countless people who seek care, and their families. Her strong sense of purpose, community, service, and caring are evident to all who have the pleasure of working with her.
I can think of very specific members who are alive today, because Karen was simply at work, a few steps away from where they had a medical event. Karen is the nurse you want to see caring for you or your family member. To have someone like her managing a department as she has in Petaluma, allow her "way" of caring to leave an imprint upon everyone she works alongside. Her legacy is truly that, a legacy of excellence, devotion, and high standards.
