I was an outpatient at Ocean Medical Center for same-day prostate surgery. While I was impressed with the competence and professionalism of the entire same-day surgery staff, Karen expressed a level of concern and compassion for me that stood out among her peers. Some examples:

Prior to going in for the surgery, on several occasions, she noticed my discomfort and anxiety and approached me to see how she could help. Any request I made was handled immediately.

Karen offered to submit my prescription and pick it up in the hospital pharmacy to save me the trouble of making a special trip afterward.

After the surgery, I was in extreme discomfort and shivering. I could not move to put my clothes back on. Karen let me stay in my hospital gown for my discharge and even put another gown on me for privacy. She also gave me two blankets to take in the car to try to stay warm.

When I dropped the bag with my personal belongings, including my wedding ring, she picked up my personal items that had scattered all over the floor and handled them with care.

The bottom line is that I felt I could not have been treated better by Karen had I been a member of her family. She and the entire staff helped me get through a very difficult day and I am grateful for that.
