A Cardiology physician nominated Karen Conard due to her keen clinical assessment skills related to a patient with chest pain. The patient had chest pain and an EKG reading revealed that the patient's EKG was normal. Karen recognized that the EKG was abnormal and consistent with the findings indicative for an acute MI. Karen immediately notified the cardiologist. The patient was taken to cath lab and found to have totally occluded major coronary artery. If it weren't for Karen's great assessment skills and knowledge of reading a 12 Lead EKG this patient's outcome may have been adverse.
