October 2020 Honoree
karen covington, RN, BSN, RNC-MNN
I gave birth at Banner University Medical Center. Karen was my day nurse on both days of my stay. Besides being attentive to me and my baby's needs (I was a post-C-section), she went out of her way to make sure my dietary needs were taken care of.
My stay was over a 2-day holiday in which I didn't know if I would have Kosher food. The staff misinformed us that we couldn't bring a cooler for our stay because of COVID concerns. Therefore, my food from home was sitting in a bucket of ice water, which had to be changed every few hours.
On the second day of my stay, Karen walked in with a brand-new cooler she bought for me at a gas station. After clarifying that it was okay for me to have a cooler, she went out of her way to make my stay more comfortable at her own expense.
Thank you, Karen. We will remember your kindness.
