Karen Doyle, RN

I am Karen Doyle's supervisor and would like to Commend Karen for the extraordinary work she does. Karen has worked with SSM for 25 years, most of them as a clinical RN in the Anticoagulation Clinic. Karen takes care of patients who are on a medication called warfarin, which is a blood thinner that requires very close monitoring in order to ensure patient safety. There is a continuous balance between avoiding bleeding and preventing blood clots in warfarin patients, they benefit from the close care that our clinic provides. Karen has her own panel of patients and has been with many of them the whole time they have been taking warfarin, even until the end of life. She gets to know them quite well, along with their family members, and becomes a valued member of their healthcare team. Last year I received a letter from the daughter of one of Karen's former patients praising her for the amazing care that she provided her late father until his passing. By reading the letter, you can truly tell how Karen touched the life of not just this patient, but the lives of so many by providing compassionate care.
