My brother was here for Chemo/Biopsy to develop a treatment plan for his Refractory DLBCL. Karen has great nursing skills. Karen was the perfect example of a skilled nurse but more importantly she was very caring and compassionate. She met all my brother's needs. Whenever he needed anything she did it right away. If my brother needed something, she walked out and immediately came back with whatever he asked for. She not only takes care of her patients but takes care of patient families as well.
Before I came to Pittsburgh I had to get a disk with my brother's PET scan pictures. I brought the disk and I was worried it would get lost in the shuffle of charts, etc. Karen was nice enough to make several calls and track down the doctor who requested the disc and not only did she track him down, she hand delivered the disk to the physician.
We feel Karen deserves the DAISY award for being an exemplary example of a well-rounded nurse. She showed excellent nursing skills and more importantly she was so very caring and compassionate. She really cared about my brother. We can't say enough about how wonderful she was.
