Karen handled the situation very well and talked to the family and made them feel as comfortable as humanly possible with what just happened.
Karen does a great job of being a nurse. She has a patient coming in to set up an appointment to start Hospice care. Karen called the patient in for her vital signs. While checking the patient she looked up at me. She could see me in my office across from the triage room. We are required to wear masks due to COVID-19. I looked into her eyes and read her mind. It was saying, "Please come and get the patient's granddaughter." I got the granddaughter and brought her into my office. Karen looked as if something was terribly wrong and headed down the hall to a patient room. By the time she made it to the room the patient expired. Karen handled the situation very well and talked to the family and made them feel as comfortable as humanly possible with what just happened. Thank you for being an outstanding nurse!
