Karen is such a caring individual. I have known her for many years and have always thought she was such a selfless nurse. She goes above and beyond to make sure that her patients and their families are cared for. I can think of many instances where Karen has gone out of her way for others. However, this one I think shows how kind Karen's heart is.

We had a transitional care patient on the second floor, and she was going to be staying with us for an extended period of time, but did not have family that could bring her in clothes to wear. Usually, we have clothes in our unit, but for some reason, we were out of the patient's size. The patient was uncomfortable working with therapies in her gown. Karen had cared for her and found out about her lack of clothes. Karen found a way to get the patient's clothes in her size and gave them to her so that she would feel more comfortable, and made the patient's stay with us memorable. The patient mentioned to me that when I was caring for her days later, she was so grateful for Karen and her thoughtfulness during that time. The patient felt that God placed her in the right place with great nurses like Karen. The patient verbalized to me that she would never forget the kindness that Karen showed her. I am grateful for Karen, and her ability to show all the nurses she works with her empathy and being a great example for us all.
