Every time I work with Karen Franza she has shown compassion and is such a caring Nurse in our ICU. Karen makes sure her patients are comfortable and shows how important her patients are to her.
A few weeks ago, we had a COVID+ patient who was not doing well and Karen was there not only for the patient and myself who had to remove the Bipap from the patient but the family as well. The family had been on the phone with the patient for many hours and when the patient started to deteriorate, Karen was a wonderful support team for the family which was still on the phone saying their last goodbyes. It was an extremely difficult emotion to go through for the patient taking his last breath and the family on the other end of the phone.
Karen is a strong Nurse who supports any other department that she comes into contact with while she is still on shift. She is a stand-up Nurse who goes above and beyond and any patient would be lucky to have her taking care of them. None of the situations that we have had to deal with in this crisis have been easy, but Karen always carries an upbeat and warming vibe which makes being a sick patient a little bit easier.
I enjoy working with Karen and look forward to many more shifts with her. She is absolutely an outstanding role model for our hospital.
