I had a very rocky start upon my arrival at the Acute Rehab Unit after undergoing bilateral knee joint replacement. My husband brought me to UMCPP's Acute Rehab Unit for extended rehab. Upon our arrival mid-afternoon, the room I had been assigned was not ready. There was no bed. I was then placed in another room with a bed that did not work. I was very upset but I made do. The overnight nurse came in and introduced herself and worked hard all night long to make me as comfortable as possible. The nurse was Karen Genthner. She quickly established my trust in her competence, compassion and sincere interest in my care and well being. If it wasn't for her initial care and compassion I was considering transferring myself to another facility.

Nurse Karen Genthner deserves to be recognized for her extraordinary personality, expertise as a compassionate, well trained registered nurse. I cannot begin to thank her enough for all her excellent care. Nurse Karen is a tremendous asset for UMCPP.
